Greenberry Welcomes Matt Smith as CEO

Please join us in welcoming Matt Smith – Greenberry Industrial has hired former SteelFab Oregon and L&M president, Matt Smith, as its new CEO.

Matt Smith: CEOAs president of L&M, a regional steel fabrication business, Matt helped grow the business from a small local fabricator to a highly respected regional steel contractor and facilitated the sale of the company to national fabricator SteelFab, where he headed up West Coast operations. “Greenberry has seen significant growth and expansion over the last few years,” said Stan Weeks, NAES’ Sr. VP and acting Greenberry CEO. “The company continues to have a backlog of orders and a strong sales funnel for new business. Matt’s proven leadership skills, his knowledge of the industry, and his years of familiarity with Greenberry make him the ideal choice to step in as CEO. We’re looking forward to having him on board.”

Matt joins Greenberry with a strong familiarity with the company and its reputation. “Being in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve known and admired Greenberry and Jason Pond for years. Before I joined L&M, I was a Greenberry customer. And at L&M, our market segments slightly overlapped, so I’m well aware of the company’s sterling reputation for quality and safety. I’m excited to be joining the team.”

“I am excited for Matt Smith to be coming on board to lead the Greenberry Team,” said Jason Pond, NAES’ SVP of its MROC division and former Greenberry CEO and prior owner. “I have worked around Matt for a long time, and I have a ton of respect for him. He is a proven winner.” Among his priorities, Matt’s top one is, “Don’t forget what got them here,” specifically mentioning Greenberry’s strong business foundation, highly skilled workforce, its legacy of collaboration and innovation, and its commitment to safety and quality as pillars of the company. “I believe that’s what makes Greenberry special.”

“My goal is to not get in the way, but rather to help with strategic and long-term vision, continue to build on the company’s culture and team development, and leverage the resources provided by NAES to continue expanding our business and developing our people for continued, long-term growth.” A resident of Corvallis, OR, Matt is married with 2 grown sons. His wife, Jenny, teaches High School Math in Corvallis. When he’s not working, he enjoys fly fishing and restoring old cars.
