Greenberry was contracted by International Paper to replace and/or upgrade multiple approach piping and mechanical systems, a new primary and secondary headbox, and new slitting equipment on an existing, fully operating containerboard, paper machine. Greenberry was tasked to complete the pre-shutdown as well as the shutdown installation, commissioning and start-up support of all new equipment and piping systems.
This project had to be completed with minimal downtime. The required pre-outage work had to be completed in order to be ready for the shutdown during which the paper machine would receive its largest overhaul in decades. The largest component of the project was the installation of the new primary headbox. The new headbox was set behind the existing one which allowed installation and partial commissioning of the system without a machine outage.
