At last month’s annual Supply Chain Recognition Awards, Bechtel presented Greenberry with the Small Business Supplier of the Year award, as well as the Bechtel Coin of Quality Excellence. Thirty-five companies total were honored for their work in supporting Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security and Environmental global business operating units in 2015.
Greenberry Director of Quality Mark Stapleton says, “It is truly an honor to be recognized as a leader within our industry. Greenberry accepts this award as a symbol of our continued commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.”
Bechtel initially awarded the test vessel fabrication subcontract in mid-2015. Greenberry is currently building a 16-foot wide by 38-foot tall stainless steel, complex test vessel in the Vancouver fabrication shop. The vessel, which will be barged later this summer up the Columbia River to Richland, Washington, will be used to properly mix radioactive liquid wastes at the Vit Plant (also known as the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant). Non-radioactive materials will be used for the testing.
The nuclear supply chain has a number of longstanding providers. As the nuclear renaissance starts to re-emerge, to be recognized as a leader in this industry allows Greenberry to pursue additional growth opportunities and establish partnerships for many years to come.
