SHIP LOADER FOR EXPORT TERMINAL

The customer hired Greenberry to fabricate, assemble, and install a new ship loader for its soda ash export terminal at the Port of Portland on the Willamette River. This new ship loader replaces an existing one and doubles the capacity at the facility. The main structural steel components of the ship loader were fabricated at Greenberry’s fabrication facilities in Washington and Oregon and assembled in their deep-water port location in Vancouver, WA.  The final structures were transported by barge to the customer’s location.

SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Fabrication and assembly of ship loader components including a 68-ton support tower, a 72-ton cradle, and a 49-ton shuttling boom
  • Mechanical installation of material handling equipment including idlers, head/tail pulleys/drives, belts, covers, conduit, pull cords, grating, handrail, and light fixtures
  • Fabrication and assembly of transfer conveyor
  • Installation of slew bearing on cradle
  • Electrical and instrumentation installation
  • Erection of ship loader support tower steel and rough mount bearing mounting plate
  • Subcontract management of heavy transport and barge shipment
  • On-site support of marine contractor performing final installation
  • Offload from barge and set support tower, cradle/boom assembly
  • Commissioning and startup support
