Greenberry Receives 3 ENR Regional Top Project Awards at Seattle Ceremony

Engineering News-Record (ENR) Northwest Magazine held an awards ceremony on December 14, 2017 in Seattle, WA to celebrate the Northwest’s 2017 Best Projects. Greenberry was recognized with three awards:

There were 21 projects recognized by the judges at ENR Magazine to reflect innovation and creativity, and were judged on five criteria: overcoming challenges and teamwork; safety; innovation and contribution to the community; construction quality and craftsmanship; and the function and/or aesthetic quality of the design.

The Excellence in Safety award for the International Paper Headbox Improvement project was one of a dozen projects considered for this award. It was based on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) incident rates, lost-time accidents, total man-hours and the quality of the project’s safety programs. The Headbox project logged more than 180,000 hours without a single recordable injury.

The Dalles Dam Upstream Navigation Lock Gate project Award of Merit for Water/Environment included fabrication of a 92′ tall tainter gate for the navigation lock on the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. The gate was fabricated in one piece utilizing joints that required fewer welds but had to fit very tight tolerances. Greenberry faced a schedule challenge plus minimizing disruption to the Columbia-Snake River navigation system despite encountering 20 inclement weather days.

The ENR Best Projects program covers all 50 states through 10 regional editions and honors 200 projects. The winners from each region then move on to the national Best of the Best awards, which will be awarded in April 2018.

Greenberry executives were proud to accept these awards at the ENR luncheon celebration and were accompanied by representatives from International Paper and Northbank project teams.
